Buhari’s certificate forged – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party
Presidential Campaign Organisation alleged on Thursday that the school
certificate presented by the presidential candidate of the All
Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was forged.
The Director of Media and Publicity of
the organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, made the allegation at a press
conference in Abuja.
He, however, added that the organisation
had yet to contact the school that issued the certificate to either
confirm or deny its authenticity.
But when one of our correspondents spoke
with the school Principal, Mr. Isyaku Bello on the telephone, he said
the certificate he signed was genuine.
The principal said, “If they are
doubting the result, then they should come and see the authentic copy
and not the photocopy sent to us by the Cambridge West Africa School.
“We are here waiting for anybody doubting what we have sent out. We are not running away. Let them come and find out.”
Nevertheless, Fani-Kayode still insisted
that the document, which were released by the Ministry of Education,
Katsina State and the University of Cambridge, was fraudulently
procured.
He said those who authored the result must be arrested by the police and be prosecuted.
He said, “Our conclusion from all these
is that the document purportedly released by the Government College
(Pilot) Katsina, upon which the APC presidential candidate hopes to bury
the doubt about his eligibility for next month’s election is forged,
manipulated and fraudulently procured. It is therefore untenable in fact
and in law.
“We do not know who the authors and
masterminds of this forgery are but whoever they are, we urge them to
come forward and be identified.
“If they fail to come forward
voluntarily, we hereby call on the police and other security agencies to
seek them out, find them, arrest them, interrogate them and prosecute
them, in accordance with the laws of the land.”
Fani-Kayode also called on Buhari to
submit himself to the police to answer charges of perjury, alleging that
the former Head of State lied on oath about his academic qualification.
This, he said, was what a man who “claims to represent integrity and due process ought to do in this situation.”
He said there was no way that Buhari
could extricate himself from the crisis, adding that the more he tried
“to extricate himself, the more he stumbles into a new phase in the
unfolding narrative of his obvious complicity in a matter that he
claimed borders on perjury.”
He said having carefully studied the
statement of result as signed by the “school principal” and an
“examination officer” of the Government College, Katsina, as well as the
attached document titled, ‘University of Cambridge West Africa School
Certificate 1961’, his campaign organisation believed that the result
was not genuine.
He raised the following observations and comments on the document.
The former Minister of Information said,
“The result sheet which was attributed to the Cambridge examination
body is clearly a super imposition of one document on another, as you
will shortly see in the enlarged image of the result sheet as published.
The column lines on the part where names are printed do not align with
the blank columns while there is an introduction of extraneous lines on
some other columns.
“The document contains an obvious
alteration on the Mathematics column of the candidate, Mohamed Buhari,
who was assumed to have scored an ‘F’ in the subject. This raises a very
fundamental issue of validity in view of the fact that the accompanying
result sheet states that ‘any alteration or erasure renders this
statement of result invalid.’
“This is the standard practice in all
interpretation of documents, especially academic records. The question
we put to Gen. Buhari and his party is whether this alteration was done
by the University of Cambridge.
Asked if his organisation has made any request to verify the authenticity of the documents, he said no.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress
Presidential Campaign Organisation has said that it prefers not to
respond to the provocations of Fani-Kayode, but rather engage him on
issues that have the potential to bring the greatest good for the
greatest number of Nigerians.
A press statement signed by Director of
Media and Publicity of the APCPCO, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Thursday said
it was laughable the PDP would not let-go of the educational
qualification of the APC presidential candidate, even when the matter
had been exhaustively laid to rest.
“It is not our desire in the APC
presidential campaign organisation to join an individual who has a
record of talking to please the moment on any petty issue. At some point
in the recent past, it was convenient for Fani-Kayode to say this of
the APC and its leaders: ‘What Nigerians need now is to join hands with
the APC leaders, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Bola Ahmed
Tinubu to move the nation forward. Today, Fani-Kayode sees no
desecration in recanting that same position, just to satisfy his
convenience.”
“The APC and its candidate are in this
presidential campaign to discuss issues that will improve the standard
of living of Nigerians and ensure that the people of this country are
properly secured. Whenever the PDP and its presidential campaign
spokesman feel ready to join us on this noble path, we will not be
willing to join them on petty issues,” Shehu said.
He noted that these distractions are
being promoted in order to provide a blanket cover over the shortcomings
of the Jonathan administration in the areas of security, employment,
war against corruption and infrastructure.
“Nigerians need no telling that all
these distractions and provocations by Jonathan, the PDP and their
cohorts are aimed at ensuring that they escape scrutiny over their score
card marked by insecurity, unemployment and rampant corruption,” Shehu
said.

Alaba Int. Market Trader Arrested For Leading Bank Robbery Gang
It was a bad day in the office for a popular trader at the Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos, John Nnamdi, as he and his gang of cross-border robbers were nabbed after they had stormed a bank and stole a whopping N100m.
Apart from that particular robbery, Nnamdi and his gang also operated in Benin Republic, and other West African countries like Ghana, Burkina Faso, Togo and their home base, Nigeria.
But he and his deadly gang met their waterloo when men of the Anti-Robbery Squad of the Lagos State Police Command led by SP Abba Kyari, swooped on them and got them arrested while they were preparing for another operation.
Other members of the gang include Samuel Igbi, Anthony Umeh, Chineye David, Uchenna Eze, Victor Anamalechi, Ifeanacho Igwe, and Desmond Obinna.
While parading the notorious armed robbers, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti said the gang had been giving his men sleepless nights with the deadly operations.
He added that the gang had been terrorising Port Novo, Benin Republic and were the ones who carried out a deadly attack on a UBA Bank on Shagamu Road, Ikorodu.
"The gang members also confessed to several robbery operations which had taken place in big cities in Nigeria.
According to them, the biggest of all their operations was the N100 million bank operation."
The leader of the gang, Nnamdi, a father of 4, confessed that the N100 million robbery occurred in 2011, at the Alakija area of Lagos.
He said his own share was N28 million. Nnamdi disclosed that he used to sell musical instruments at the Alaba International Market and it was while he was a trader he conceived and planned the bank robbery.
"The operation in Alakija was in 2011. We made about N100 million. I got a share of N28 million. I was a trader at the Alaba International Market, Ojo area, before I organised the gang. We have gone for about five operations.
We went to Port Novo, Benin Republic, to rob a micro-finance bank. We broke into the bank through the back. We used two guns for that operation. The security men were asleep. We woke and tied them.
One of our members opened the safe, and we began to pack money. I was given N7 million and the other four also got N7 million each.
I bought a Toyota Corolla with my own share of the money. We used the vehicle to further our operations. We keep our guns in a compartment under the car. We have escaped being caught on several occasions."
The Ploice Commissioner said that on 15 November, 2014, he received information of a trans-border gang that was putting finishing touches to a grand plan to unleash terror on the Lagos residents.
Quote
"It
was based on the information that I immediately directed the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), led by Abba Kyari to go after the robbers.
The team tracked and located the gang’s hideouts around Iba, Festac and Igando areas of the state. We succeeded in arresting two members of the gang, Samuel Igbi and Anthony Umeh.
A search was conducted on the suspects and their hideouts. The police recovered two AK47 rifles, 11 AK47 magazines and one Toyota Sienna bus."

Nigerian parents left their twins, 9, alone in the US and traveled to Nigeria
Nigerian parents, Jerusalem and Gladys Monday, have lost custody of their 9 yr old twins after they left them mostly to themselves in their New Hampshire apartment for four months and took their other three children to Nigeria. They left their twins in the care of an uncle who hardly visited. More of the story below from AP...
Manchester police said the uncle, 25-year-old Giobari Atura (pictured above), told them he would stop by every couple of days to drop off food, but when police got involved in November, they found no edible food in the refrigerator and only ramen noodles in a cabinet.
Atura was charged in December with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor. He was freed on $500 bail.
Atura's older brother, Jerusalem Monday, left for Nigeria with his wife and three of their children in July, intending to return in August. They told police they were delayed by illness and passport problems.
The door at their apartment was ajar Thursday, but no one answered a knock; a telephone listed in Jerusalem Monday's name was not receiving calls. A neighbor, Christaly Garcia, said she didn't recall seeing the boys but noted they wouldn't necessarily stand out because there are a lot of kids in the well-kept apartment complex in New Hampshire's largest city.
The case came to light in November when officials at the boys' school told the state Division of Children, Youth and Families that the twins had been living on their own for months. The kids were getting themselves up and on the bus, then eating breakfast and lunch at school.
The boys were taken into protective custody and then placed into foster care.
Assistant Hillsborough County Attorney Michael Valentine said the parents returned home shortly after they learned the boys were being left alone. Because they left them in the care of a relative, Valentine said, they won't be charged. The boys are back with their parents.
In a police affidavit, Atura said he'd stop by the apartment on days that he went to work, but that didn't happen every day. He said he checked on the boys three days a week and told them to call him if they needed anything.
"It should be noted that no operable phone was located within the apartment," the affidavit says.
In an interview with police, one of the boys said "he felt lonely while staying at their own house because his mom and dad were not there and nobody was with them," according to the affidavit.
His phone number isn't listed. His lawyer, John Stanzel, did not immediately return a call seeking commentWhen police finally reached the parents, they said they had instructed Atura to stay at the apartment, and if he couldn't, they gave him the name of a family friend to contact. The parents said they stayed in phone contact with Atura, who assured them everything was fine.
Meet the Nigerian woman who killed her white lover for cheating in 1953
Ada Esther Johnson, popularly known back in the 50s as Ada Ocha Ntu pictured above with her lover, Mark Hall, whom she murdered in 1953 after she found out he'd used the 400pounds she loaned him for business, to go to England and marry an English bride. According to history, Mark used part of Ada's money to buy his new bride a car which she would use to start a transport business in the UK.
He returned to Nigeria and told Ada what he'd done with her money and a very furious Ada used a pair of scissor to stab Mark. Mark eventually died from injuries sustained from the attack.
Ada was tried and convicted in 1956 and was placed on death row at Broad Street Prison in Lagos. She was however pardoned by former head of state Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe, who changed her death sentence to life imprisonment in 1961.
