The Ondo State command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested a 25-year-old man, for stealing a Honda Accord Evil Spirit vehicle worth Four Million Naira.
The stolen vehicle with registration number LAGOS MUS 328 BZ belongs to the boss of the arrested thief, Kehinde Ajayi, from Aisegba Ekiti.
The Police 'First Information' obtained by our correspondent from Okuta Elerinla Divisional Police Station in Akure revealed that the suspect confessed to the crime.
After interrogation, Kehinde said he did what he termed, 'an evil act' of stealing the vehicle on Friday, when he dropped his boss at the office. Kehinde Ajayi also carted-away some items believed to be useful to him in the stolen car caper.
The suspect, who claimed to reside at Alejolowo Street, along Ondo road, in Akure, said he “regretted” the action.
"I have regretted doing such (a) thing. I have never been arrested for any crime before, this is my first time of doing such," he told our correspodent.
He added that he had a buyer for the stolen vehicle ready to pay him cash in his confessional statement.
"The buyer, based in Lagos, had promised to pay One Million Naira for the vehicle," he revealed from his confessional statement.
The Commands Spokesman, Wole Ogodo, said the suspect was arrested immediately when the case was reported at the police station.
Ogodo bemoaned over the high rate of car theft criminality in the state, mostly at the capital city.
He added that the suspect would be charged in court for theft after the investigation has been concluded for prosecution.
The police image maker advised car owners on the proper choice of drivers they employed.
Other stolen items recovered from Kehinde Ajayi includes, a Dell Laptop computer, and charger, a Techno Smart and Nokia Asha phone, an Internet Modem crested with MTN, a table knife, and documents belonging to his boss.
