2014: Osun lawmakers endorse Aregbesola for re-election

THE second term bid of Governor Rauf Aregbesola received a boost on Tuesday as the lawmakers representing Osun State at the National Assembly and their counterparts at the House of Assembly declared their support for him  to contest for the second term in 2014.
Declaring their support in Osogbo at a  rally to celebrate the 53rd Independence anniversary of Nigeria, the legislators attributed their resolve to what they described as sterling performances of the governor, which they said had brought about social and economic transformation of the state.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr Najeem Salam, Senator Sola Adeyeye, Senator Jide Omoworare and other lawmakers who spoke one after another commended  Aregbesola for engendering healthy development in Osun and promoting the collective interest of the masses since he took over the mantle of leadership since November 2010.
According to Senator Adeyeye, “the state has witnessed an unprecedented transformation in the education sector, infrastructure, youth employment and in other areas. The little resources of the state have been judiciously used for the people of the state. This is highly commendable and that is why we are asking the governor to continue in office beyond 2014.”
In his remark, a former deputy governor of Osun State,  Chief Sooko Adewoyin, also lauded the achievement of the governor, observing that those who governed the state before Aregbesola assumed office were astonished  at the unprecedented  development which had taken place in the state in less than three years.
Responding, the governor expressed gratitude to the lawmakers, stressing that  this was the first time all lawmakers from any state would ask their governor to seek a re-election.
